Is Using a Suppressor for Home Defense Legally Smart or Dumb?

I’m wondering if it’s smart to use a suppressed .300 blk AR pistol for home defense. I don’t want to lose my hearing, and it’s shorter and easier to maneuver compared to a rifle. But is all the trouble worth it? Is there any legal issue with using an NFA item for home defense? I live in a castle doctrine and stand-your-ground state, if that helps.

I don’t see a problem with it. It’ll get confiscated like any weapon as part of the investigation, but as long as your shoot is justified and your local law enforcement isn’t difficult, you should get it back.
