Thinking about buying this camera, but I’m not a fan of the design… should I try to hide it?

I’m planning to buy it, but honestly, I think it looks like an alien! I’m debating whether to try covering it up to make it look a bit nicer. Thoughts? Does anyone else feel the same about the design?

Looks like one of those generic products sold under different ‘brands’—no telling where your data goes. I’d steer clear.

Even the ad is sketchy… says ‘free shipping,’ but you need to buy three cameras for it.

@Jonah
Agreed. I wouldn’t trust this camera at all.

@Jonah
I think it should be okay; this V380 camera looks alright, and I don’t plan to keep it on all the time.

Mostly, I’d keep it in a box and set it up when I want to watch my stuff.

Why ask for advice if you already plan to get it?

@Jonah
I was hoping to get advice from people who’ve actually used this type of camera. The V380 seems pretty common here.

V380 cameras common? Nah, they’re junk.

I recently got a Kasa camera from Amazon for around $25. It’s the fastest, most responsive one I’ve tried. I’ve had Ring and Arlo before, but they took ages to load. This one shows a clear image in under 3 seconds, has near-instant audio, and can pan/tilt. The 1080p version is affordable, or you can get 2K for about $50.

Just a thought.

@Olin
Yikes, $25 is about 1,398.75 Philippine pesos. That’s out of my budget for now :sweat_smile:

Oops, my mistake! I thought yours was around $300 or so. Now I see why you’re looking for something more affordable.

@Olin
It’s alright! I just don’t make a lot, and when I work for my grandparents, it’s not a guarantee I’ll get paid, even if promised :sweat_smile:

Honestly, I’d pass on this camera. But what do you plan to use it for? There might be other suggestions.

This V380 camera seems to be the more affordable option that people around here use. I mostly want advice from people who have it.

They’re usually the cheapest, though still pricey. I plan to use it occasionally to keep an eye on my stuff, so it’ll mostly be stored away when not in use.

@Wren
I’ve never seen one in use, and I work with cameras a lot. Feel free to try it, but don’t expect much privacy.

Honestly, I don’t plan to leave it on a lot—just set it up occasionally when I want to check on things.

Why not look for a camera with a design you like more? This one does look a bit odd. Here’s one I have at home: https://ifeelsys.com/fr/34-camera-surveillance-interieure-rotative-golf.html.

@Harley
Sorry, I only speak English or Tagalog; could you translate?

@Harley
After translating, I get it! I’m mainly going with this one because it’s budget-friendly (still around 1,000 Philippine pesos, though).

I actually wanted a dome-style camera, but wireless dome cameras are expensive. This is more of a test run to see if V380 is worth it before getting anything more pricey. And yeah, those light bulb cameras are annoying, especially since they’d turn off with the light switch!
