Looking for a Security Camera to Monitor My Parked Car

I live on a fairly busy street for a small town, and since I don’t have a driveway, I have to park on the street. In the past six months, my car has been hit three times twice, the side mirror was ripped off, and the third time, there was a huge scrape down the side. To make matters worse, the scrape happened just when I was about to get the mirror fixed, with both incidents occurring within two weeks of each other. I need a security camera that I can aim at the street to catch these hit-and-run incidents. The police can’t do much without knowing who’s responsible. Since I usually walk to work, my car often sits unused for days, so I need a camera that lets me review footage from a few days back when I finally notice something. I don’t know much about security cameras, so any recommendations for one that fits these needs would be really helpful.

If you don’t always park in the same spot, it’s best to keep a camera inside your car. To cover all angles, you’ll either need a dash cam with four channels (four cameras) or two dash cams with two channels each. The cheapest option is using wireless IP cameras like Reolink Lumus or Eufy Outdoors Pro, powered by your car’s battery. This works well as long as your car doesn’t get too hot at night; otherwise, a dash cam is better. For my setup, I use a Viofo dash cam and a night vision camera, which stream footage to an old phone where an app records and monitors the feed. If someone gets too close to my car, the app sends me a snapshot of the detection. I’ve also set up my porch light to turn on when the app detects someone, making it look like I’m home. The app can detect people, cars, and animals. The cameras came from amazon and the app came from google app store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.unicordia.dc_free

Thank you for you suggestion

I have been in the same boat, and after a ton of research, I went with the Arlo Pro 4. It’s wireless, has great night vision, and the motion detection is on point. Plus, the app is super user-friendly. I have been using it to keep an eye on my car, and it’s given me peace of mind. Highly recommend checking it out!

I use the Ring Stick Up Cam for monitoring my driveway and car. It’s easy to install, and I like that it integrates with my other Ring devices. The video quality is solid, even at night, and the alerts are reliable. It’s been a game-changer for me, especially since I travel a lot and want to keep an eye on my vehicle while I’m away.

I recently installed a Wyze Cam v3 to keep an eye on my parked car, and it’s been great so far. The price is unbeatable, and it offers color night vision, which is rare in this price range. I set it up to cover the whole area where I park, and it catches everything. The only downside is that it needs to be plugged in, so you’ll have to figure out the best placement

If you’re looking for something reliable, I’d suggest the Nest Cam (Battery). I love the flexibility of it being wireless, and the battery life is impressive. It covers a wide area, and the video quality is excellent, day or night. The best part is the integration with Google Home, so you can easily check in on your car anytime. It’s a bit pricier, but worth it for the peace of mind.
