Has anyone else had bad experiences with HomePro… is it worth warning others?

I just want to warn anyone thinking about using HomePro. Hopefully, this post helps someone avoid the trouble I went through with this company.

Short version: Their service is bad, their equipment doesn’t work well, and they’ll lock you into a 5-year contract without telling you. If you try to cancel, they’ll threaten collections. Record your calls with them because they’ll lie about everything.

Long version:

In 2022, I moved into a new construction home in Fort Worth. Before closing, a HomePro rep pitched their services. He never mentioned a 5-year contract, and I know this because my wife recorded the conversation.

In 2023, I noticed the camera recording feature I was paying for wasn’t even activated. After calling, they told me to install an SD card, which I did. But the cameras kept glitching—especially the front door and driveway ones. They blamed my internet, so I upgraded to 2GB and got an extender, but it didn’t help. Other devices worked fine; only their cameras had issues. Still, I tried to deal with it.

Then, in September 2024, a contractor threatened my wife while I wasn’t home. It was terrifying. I thought, “Thank God we have cameras,” but when I checked, the recording feature hadn’t been activated for two years. Two years of paying for nothing!

After this, the front yard camera completely stopped working. I called to cancel, and they told me I’d owe $2,500 to break the contract. After all their terrible service, faulty equipment, and failing to provide the security we needed, they still wanted money. It’s disgusting.

I refuse to pay them another dime, and I’m ready to take legal action if needed. Please avoid this company at all costs.

How many HomePro employees does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

None… they use gaslights.

That’s awful! Thanks for warning people about this.

Thanks for the support. I really hope this helps others avoid the same mistake.

Tell them they’re the ones breaking the contract by not delivering what you paid for. Keep a record of everything—it might help if they try to take legal action.

I’ll never understand why people sign up for these scammy services.

I had a similar experience with another company. These contracts are ridiculous, and they count on people not fighting back.

Exactly. They bank on people just giving up and paying them. It’s so predatory.
