Anyone using heavier ammo for Salt S2 launcher?

If you’ve got the Salt S2 launcher, are you sticking with the S2-branded ammo only, or trying out other options? I’ve seen some folks on YouTube using stuff like small steel balls, but those were different launchers.

I’ve been using the standard kinetic ammo, but it’s pretty pricey, so I’m open to alternatives.

And yeah, I get that heavier ammo might mean a bit less power when fired, but just checking for anyone else’s experience!

Using heavier ammo doesn’t necessarily lower the energy (joules), but it does reduce the speed (fps). Heavier rounds also handle outside forces better, so they’re more accurate over distance. I’m using the Grimburg Jul V3s, which weigh 8 grams and are a good fit for the Salt S2.

@Jaden
Thanks for clarifying that about joules! Got it mixed up from a YouTube video.

Just ordered some Jul V3s to try out.

The Alien Play .68 solid aluminum rounds on Amazon work pretty well too, though the V3s are probably the best option.

Thanks for the tip! Is this the listing you mean? https://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Reusable-Projectile-Paintballs-Practice/dp/B0CTG54HSM?ref_=ast_sto_dp

@Sam
Yep, that’s the one!

Also, I’d recommend grabbing a cheap picatinny-mounted laser and doing some practice to line it up right. The S2 tends to shoot higher than the factory sights make it seem. It helps to know how your rounds will actually hit versus where the sights are aimed.

You could also try using something called ‘grinding media.’ These are basically heavy-duty balls used in industries to crush and grind materials. Some of the ceramic grinding media can make great ballistic projectiles.
