Hey everyone, I’ve been browsing this forum for a while and just got this gift, a Western Airguns rattler long rifle .45. I wanted to ask, do you think this would work as a reliable tool if someone tried to break in? Any advice would be appreciated!
Man, this will take too long to set up. Plus, you should go for something small and easy to move around or hide.

Why would it take too long? It’s all set up and the magazine’s loaded.
Not sure if this is a joke or what, but don’t rely on an air rifle for home defense. Get a proper handgun (or rifle), practice with it, and keep it ready. If you can’t get a real gun, something like a bat or knife is a better choice.
@Harlan
I get what you’re saying, but a real handgun isn’t an option where I live, in the Netherlands. This rifle is used in the States for hunting deer and boar, so I thought it would be powerful enough. Thanks for the feedback!
Unless you’re a sniper, this won’t be effective. Just get a decent small handgun and keep it locked up safely.

By the way, it’s semi-automatic.
Is that a matching baseball bat you’re holding?

Haha, nope, not at all!
Is this a joke? What am I even looking at here?
Well, it has the power of a .45 ACP pistol, which has been stopping people for decades. One shot to the center will do the job, so if it’s all you’ve got, then yeah, it’s better than nothing. Also, if you end up in a close fight, stick a knife on the stock. For more compactness, take off the suppressor and add a really bright light—around 2000 lumens or more.
@Cedar
A bright light is a great idea, thanks for that! Made me feel a lot more confident!

Just make sure the gun is always well-lubed—do it once a month and check that the O-ring is seated right.
No.
