I recently purchased a Sihman door security bar on Amazon. It was a discounted item since it was a customer return, but it arrived missing the side panels that attach to the door frame. Because of this, Amazon let me keep it and issued a full refund. I’d still like to make use of the bar.
Does anyone know what parts I could buy to replace the missing side panels? I’ve looked into door hinges that might work, but the part where the hinges fold together creates a bulge that would block the door from opening.
Here are some pictures of the product.
(Also, as seen in the 3rd picture, a lion already guards my sliding door, so no additional security is needed for that one!)
Why not just get a FlipLok? It’s simple to use and works well. You can also try uploading a screenshot of the side slots from your picture into Google Images, and it might help you find similar items. If that doesn’t work, check out Home Depot or Lowe’s.

Can these locks work on both sides of the door? I’ve heard from someone in the security field that people often target the hinge side.
FlipLok only works on the lock side, not the hinge side. If you put it on the hinge side, it might block the door from opening. To reinforce the hinge side, you could try installing security pins. They’re pretty affordable—around $8 for a set on Amazon—or you can grab steel cotter pins at Home Depot. Check out a video called “exterior door security hack” on YouTube. Another option is Door Armor, available on Amazon. It strengthens both sides of the door. You could also upgrade your hinges, but thicker hinges might require tricky adjustments. If you’re unsure, hire someone experienced with hinge installations.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve looked into FlipLok and agree it’s less noticeable. This is for an outward-opening door. I’ve seen that the Sihman lock screws directly into the door, which could work. FlipLok does make an outward-opening version, but it doesn’t have as many reviews, so I’m not sure if it’s dependable.
