Just got my first shotgun for home defense. It’s a semi-auto bullpup, and I’m excited to see how it performs. What are your thoughts?
Looks like a spaceship gun to me.
How’s the fight against the aliens going with that?

Not great. Ammo costs are killing me.

Just grab a Needler and call it a day.
Have you figured out what ammo it likes best? I like the idea of a semi-auto bullpup, but I feel like a traditional setup might be more reliable. Could be great if you test it thoroughly, though.

Not fully yet. It’s not a fan of light loads, but I tried some buckshot that worked great. My main issue is no bolt hold open button or gas system adjustment.
@Shiloh
The IWI TS12 is technically tube-fed too.
@Bryn
You’re right! I found it after playing around. Thanks for pointing that out. And yeah, I cleaned it first thing. Just a bit over-lubed.
@Noor
Try #1 buckshot. It has more pellets than #00, creating better contact and fewer risks of over-penetration in a home setting.
It looks cool. If it works with your ammo, I think it’ll be fine. The design looks interesting. What’s the total length?
I’ve used Federal buckshot in mine without any problems.
I’m not sold on this for home defense. Maybe it’s fun to shoot, but I’d pick something else for serious use.

Semi-auto shotguns like this often have feeding issues. For fun, fine. For reliability when it matters, I’d trust something like a Benelli M4.
@Dev
I’d also trust the M1, M2, and M3 from Benelli.

True. Even Beretta makes some solid options. But I’d stick to proven designs.
@Dev
My 1970s Remington 1100 has never jammed on me, and my Winchester 1400 does great when cleaned often. But yeah, I wouldn’t trust most newer semi-autos unless they’ve been heavily tested.

Why not? It’s compact, holds 10 rounds, and lets you switch between buckshot and slugs quickly. Great for practice too.
@Bryn
Reliability is the issue. Semi-auto, mag-fed shotguns tend to be finicky.
