Taurus Guns... any good for home defense?

Guns aren’t made for sleeping on… pretty uncomfortable choice. Try a bed instead.

For $400, you can get a CZ P07, P09, or P10F. Way more reliable and ergonomic.

A Ruger Security-9 costs about the same as a Taurus, maybe $20 more for the Max-9. It’s not flashy, but it’s reliable. You can even get their budget red dot for under $100. For home defense, where you won’t need long-range accuracy, you could get the gun, optic, and practice ammo for under $500.

@Ren
The Ruger isn’t reliable… straight trash. Taurus is a better pick.

Nah, that’s not true at all.

Go read the reviews. The Ruger has feeding and ejection issues. It’s why some models were discontinued. I’d rather people get accurate info about guns.

@Fintan
The Security-9 is still listed on Ruger’s site. Sounds like you’re just mad someone prefers a Taurus over your Ruger.

Not mad at all. Taurus has its flaws, but the market shows demand for them at their price point. Same can’t be said for Ruger.

@Fintan
Ruger’s SR series and their Security series are completely different.

I mean, any gun can have issues. Even Glock or Sig users occasionally get lemons. It’s just the luck of the draw sometimes.

Totally agree! Have you tried the new Nocturnal? I’ve heard mixed reviews.

I haven’t seen much, but Honest Outlaw did an initial impressions video. I’d wait for more feedback to avoid potential issues.

Or I could just stick with what I already have.

“Don’t sleep on Taurus”… yeah, no thanks. Cheap for a reason. Next, you’ll tell me Hi-Point is a good option.

At least Hi-Point fires.

So does Taurus… you just might not like when it decides to fire.

Ever shot a TH40?

Yeah, I almost bought one but went with a Steyr L9A2-MF instead. Definitely a better choice.

I’ll keep my Sig P226 and Beretta 92. No need for Taurus in my life.
