@Torrance
The best solution is likely to combine a slight tint with external lighting pointed at the windows to keep privacy at night.
I had some on my car back in the day. I’m going to call the auto shop and see if they still have it!

Let me know if you find out what it was. I’d love to have something similar for my home.
@Alby
Sure! I think the guy said it was called photochromic film.
I was on the search for this very thing and stumbled upon a site about micro-perforated translucent film. It might be worth a look for anyone interested.
Has anyone tried putting a bright LED light on the outside of the window? Would that make the one-way tint work better at night?
They’re called curtains.
Have you tried perforated vinyl? You can layer it for different levels of privacy.
I’m also looking for a high-quality, easy-to-install one-way window film for my door. Let me know if you find something good!
What would happen if you put the same one-way privacy film on both sides of the window? Would that work for privacy at night?
