I have a door I want to make harder to open. The door has a lock, but the hinges are on the outside and the pins can be popped out. It’s not an exterior door, so I don’t want to reinforce it too much. I just want the pins to stay in place and not be easily removed. I found a few options but I’m a bit confused. Anyone have some ideas? I’m not looking to spend too much.
Here’s something you can try Hinge Protector Pin (3 Pack) – Door Armor

Thanks. I came across these when I was searching the forum for similar ideas. I don’t get how they work though…
edit: alright, I checked again and now I get it. If the hinge pins are removed, these will stop the door from coming out of the frame. Thanks!
Here are two options I’ve seen:
-
Remove one screw from each hinge and replace it with a steel pin. This pin will go through both the door and frame when the door is closed. This will stop the door from coming off if the hinge pins are removed.

You can use commercial-style hinges where the pin is welded in place.
You might be able to have the pin welded on your current hinges. A TIG weld at both the top and bottom should do it.
If you’re sure you never want to remove the hinge pins yourself, you could use liquid thread lock. Just pull out a pin, apply the thread lock, and put it back in. That should keep the pins in place.

But the pins don’t have threads.

Ahh, right, my bad – that’s my mistake. It’s just an adhesive, not thread lock. Don’t worry about that.
