We all have different living situations, so I’m curious to know what works for you in terms of home defense. Feel free to share your reasoning, whether it’s for practicality, effectiveness, or personal preference.
I own a musket for home defense, as the founding fathers intended. Four intruders break into my house. ‘What the devil?’ I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball-sized hole through the first man, killing him instantly. Draw my pistol for the second man, miss entirely because it’s smoothbore and hit the neighbor’s dog. Resort to my cannon at the top of the stairs, loaded with grape shot. ‘Tally ho, lads!’ Two are shredded in the blast, and the last bleeds out from triangular bayonet wounds. Just as the founding fathers intended.

This copypasta is an all-time classic and never gets old.
Blunderbuss filled with salt rocks. Effective and historical!
A 4-inch double-action .38 Special revolver. It’s reliable, easy to use, and has manageable recoil. Perfect for stress situations where simplicity matters.
I keep a pistol near my bed for quick access and a shotgun for high-stakes situations. Both are practical for different scenarios.
A shotgun with #4 buckshot. It’s devastatingly effective and doesn’t require pinpoint accuracy in a high-stress situation.
Grenades. Who needs subtlety when you can go all in?
How do I select ‘all of the above’ as my answer? Criminals can’t break down the doors if you blow them—and the criminals—apart with a cannon!
Pistol for my nightstand and a PCC in my office where I’m usually up late. Both are quick, accessible, and practical.
I thought shotgun until I fired one indoors without ear protection. Now I’d prefer a suppressed 300 BLK or a handgun.
