Best gun for home defense? Let’s settle this once and for all…

A 14.5-inch AR-15 with a pinned muzzle device, 30-round mags, and proper self-defense ammo. It’s lightweight, holds plenty of rounds, and doesn’t overpenetrate as much as people think.

Or go with an AR pistol for something even more compact.

@San
That works too.

But won’t an AR pistol destroy your hearing indoors?

Yeah, but any gun will be loud inside. There are suppressors if that’s a big concern.

You can always grab electronic ear protection. Better than nothing.

The best gun is the one you shoot the best.

If you can’t get an AR-15, just mount an M134 minigun in every room. Works for helicopters, should work for home defense too.

That doesn’t have a bayonet, so technically it’s legal in California, right?

A shotgun is a solid start, but I moved up to an AK for more capacity. It’s all about what you’re comfortable with.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Get what you’re comfortable with, train with it, and make sure it’s legal where you live.

Good point. I’ll be taking some classes at my local range soon.

If you’re brand new to firearms, I’d start with something easy to use, like a 9mm pistol. ARs are great too, but you need to know what you’re doing.

At the end of the day, any gun is better than no gun. But having a plan and being mentally prepared is just as important as what you’re holding.
